I prefer using unbleached paper towels inside my rats’ litter boxes rather than. Using your gloves or spoon, pick up some droppings from around the cage and sprinkle them on. I actually think by far most will not fully litter train.
If you use pelleted bedding in the litter box (that’s what i do!) the digger might not like the texture anymore! I personally always suggest using disposable bedding over fleece.
